SANMA Provincial Government enhances data management for Strategic Decision-Making
The SANMA Provincial Government Council (SPGC) launched its first ever ‘Community Data Profiling’ to enhance its data management system in Luganville, Santo on Monday, 11th of March.
This initiative is the result of the strong collaboration between the SPGC through the Department of Local Authorities (DLA), under the leadership of the Office of the Secretary General, the Civil Status Department, the Vanuatu Bureau of Statistics (VBoS), the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), and with technical support from the Vanuatu Skills Partnership (VSP) under its Quality Systems team and its local coach and the Area Administrators through the area councils. The VSP is supported by the Government of Australia.
With this new initiative, the SPGC will strengthen its coordination and oversight of provincial planning and implementation. This will involve, identifying opportunities to bridge existing gaps in specific area councils and inform better strategic decision-making at the provincial and national level.
Key activities under the initiative include; the appointment of a SANMA Kobo data collection committee, formulation of community profiling and sector questionnaires, and uploading of questions onto the Kobo platform.
This live interactive dashboard represents a leap forward in data transparency, accessibility, and utilisation. By providing real-time insights into community profiles, it will empower the government and partners to make informed decisions around development priorities and drive positive change within our communities.
This is a compelling example of the power of partnership and innovation - and using the power of data to accelerate progress and enhance the well-being of Vanuatu citizens.
